Olive Harvest in Italy | Teramo, Abruzzo
Join this olive harvest in Italy, an exclusive day with the local farmers, picking olives and learning all secret of a good Extra Virgin Olive Oil, In Abruzzo near Rome. You will also have a professional olive oil tasting and learn how to recognise a good Extra Virgin Olive oil from a bad one.
*If you can’t find a suitable date, just drop us an email and we can try to accomodate you.
In the morning we will spend some time at the olive grove with the local farmers who will show you the different techniques of gathering olive fruits, how to identify different types of olives and their characteristics. You will also be able to learn and pick olives.
After some time working with the farmers at the olive grove, we will head to the home of the award-winning olive oil producer.
Here you will be able to learn everything about the modern extraction process, called ‘continuous’. This isn’t just a fully automated process, still, huge skills are needed by the mill master (my aunt) to recognise the different characteristics of the olives for then setting the machine for the perfect procedure. You will see with your eyes and taste, the freshly pressed green gold in the Italian way, with a good slice of bread under the oil flow.
We will then move to a special location and have a picnic lunch with private olive oil tasting of our award-winning olive oils, local cheeses, honey and Wine.
For a grand finale, we will then head to a local honey producer to see how honey is extracted and watch closely the bees inside their hives. *
